Montana Heritage Center
The Montana Heritage Center is located at 225 North Roberts Street in Helena, Montana, just steps away from the state Capitol Building. The Heritage Center is home to the Montana Historical Society, and contains a world-class museum, library & archives, cafe, gift shop, and more.

The museum consists of three main galleries:
- Montana Homeland Gallery--Walk through more than 13,000 years of Montana's history from the Ice Age to the present day.
- Charles M. Russell Gallery--Explore the life of Montana's beloved cowboy artist and see a collection of his masterworks.
- Changing Gallery--Enjoy a rotating selection of exhibits from the Society's vaults. Currently on display: The Poindexter Collection of Midcentury Modern Art.
Entry is free. Regularly scheduled tours of the museum galleries are offered.

Explore the Society's collection of books, photographs, maps, newspapers, and more at the Larry Len and LeAnne Peterson Library and Archives.

Norm's Cafe operated by The Dive Bakery offers a selection of baked goods, sandwiches, coffee, and more--perfect for fueling up before or after you explore our museum galleries.

The State Historic Preservation Office works to identify, protect, and commemorate Montana's historic buildings, archaeological sites, and cultural landscapes.

Located just steps away from the Montana Heritage Center, The Capitol building is open Monday – Friday, 7 AM - 6 PM, and weekends, 9:30 AM. - 3 PM, and is home to several items from our Museum collection.

The Original Governor's mansion is located at 304 No. Ewing St., Helena, MT
