As part of the Identifying Montana’s African American Heritage Places Project, the city of Helena was researched and surveyed for places of historical significance to the history of African Americans in Montana. In all, 26 buildings were researched, photographed, mapped, and had their histories compiled in Historic Property Record Forms, which are available below. In addition two National Register Nominations were prepared for properties of special significance, as well as a Multiple Properties Documentation form, which provides a thorough and comprehensive history of African Americans in Helena and Montana, both available on the National Register of Historic Places page.
